Our ever barring strawberries are starting to flower… which means we should be getting some fresh strawberries soon. Guess I should do some research on these before it gets much later in the season. If you have any tips or suggestions on how to get the best harvest, please let us know.
We ordered the compost from Blue Ridge Organics to help amend our southern red clay. It took about three days to get the delivery scheduled, which worked out perfect… because they were able to delivery it on Saturday – and we both had the day off of work.
For the nine raised beds, I calculated that two inches of compost would end up being just over three yards… because of the delivery fee, we figured we should just go ahead and get an extra two yards – for good measure.
We found a great deal on Craigslist on a Troy Bilt Tiller. Its a 5 HP rear tine… and it is a beast. We are still trying to figure out how to use it without killing ourselves.
